Server Busy Message

The following message keeps popping up and I have to click Start and anything
else. I did some research and prior issues like this seemed to be related to
IM which I do not use. Any other ideas out there of how to eliminate this.

Here is the message:

"This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy too.
Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem. "

Some more info:

1. The operating system is XP.

2. The pc is my desktop but I do have a router for my wireless laptop.

3. The following message appears about every minute in event viewer:

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer AALAPTOP using any of the
configured protocols.
