Hello everyone,

One of our servers, an HP with an internal disk array, is
having problems booting up. Basically, there was a disk
configuration change made--what I have no idea--and now
the server freezes looking for the c drive. Here is the
message:

Attempting to boot from hard disk c:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

Sounds like the active bit might have been set to another drive set on the
controller. Have you checked to make sure the drive is marked active in the
controller and in Windows? (You can check windows with a 98 boot disk)

Joseph,

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, the server
cannot even support boot up from floppy or CD ROM. So
we're pretty sure it's a hardware problem of some sort.
We're still not certain where the problem lies
unfortunately. Any thoughts?

Chris

Hi Chris,

While you do not have access to a floppy or CDROM drive, Josephs point
about checking to make sure that the drive is properly configures is a good
one. You will need to make the appropriate key strokes to get into the
controllers BIOS and make sure that the drive you are trying to boot from is
set to "boot"
