Hello,
I have a Windows 2000 Server. I also have a PC that I've mapped a share drive to on the Windows 2000 server. After mapping the drive the user is prompted to authenticate, after rebooting, in order to connect to the share. Other than creating a user account on the server for this user, is there anyway I can map a share to the server and not be prompted to authenticate? Note: this is not a Windows network.

Are the server and PC part of a domain or workgroup?

Setup the pc to have the user login to the windows workgroup. create the
same username and same password as a local power user on the server. in a
workgroup environment, this has always worked perfect for me. I am able to
map the drives, and have them resotre at every login without prompting for a
password. I personally hate workgroups though. If the user on the PC
decides to change his password on the machine, you will have to change it on
the server too.
