Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.
Does it show "Version 5.1 (Build 2600.)?
If the "Build Version" is not 2600, you are apparently
using an old beta version of Windows XP, which is not
supported, and should be removed and replaced with the
released version.
