Serial Port Communication Requirements

I'm having some problems using Serial Ports in Embedded XP.

I have a GPS monitoring tool (www.gpsdotnet.com) and an ELO Touch Screen
(installed using their preconfigured XP Component).

I have been told that both devices use standard Windows API's, and they
function perfectly on my complete XP Development System. Neither device
appears to work in Embedded XP, either alone or together.

Are there any suggestions on what I might need to include in the Target
Designer.

I have a ELO Touch Screen and i had to write my own component to be able to
use it; it is plugged as a serial device onto a FTDI chip (on a usb
channel); my ELO started working after i configured the right com port from
the component registry.
