Serial ATA

Chet

I have a problem and I hope you can help.

Background info:
Gigabyte k8 mother board (for Athlon 64)
-built in serial ata
-enabled in bios
Seagate 120gb serial ata hdd
geforce3 video card
1gb corsair ddr 400mhz
dvd-rom
cd-rw

Problem:
When trying to install windows xp I hit f6 and select
the raid driver from my floppy. Everything seems fine,
setup detects the drive and then asks me to chose a
partition and file system type. I go for the NTFS system
and when it tries to partition and format the system
locks up. Any ideas? I have tried the complete and quick
option for the foramt. The motherboard and hard-drive
have both been returnded and new ones used with same
results.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Chet

If you are using a single drive, you should be able to
change the setting in bios for ATA only and not raid. Se
well lots of these types of systems and we have no
problems loading windows.

You do not need the Raid driver unless you have more than
one drive and you setup the raid during post.
