Hi,

I consider buying a new harddrive and according to the specs it is able
to handle serial ATA:

But how about serial ATA-2? Would such a harddisk actually work on this
motherboard?

P.S. I bought this motherboard two and half years ago.

A SATA hard drive that operates at 3.0Gb/sec, can also run at
1.5Gb/sec. So the drives are backward compatible. The hard
drive may even come with a jumper, if you want to force it to
1.5Gb/sec. Check the jumper web page for the drive, to see what
options it has.

So, yes, barring other problems with the drive, it should work.
