serch function

my search function has stopped working. is states that a
file is missing and i need to run setup. when i run
setup is states that i need to go to the contol panel and
add/remove windows components. there is no selection for
setup. what must i do to get my search function working
again?

if i connect to the internet the search function works
fine but does not work if not connected to the internet.
