is there a way of searching the duplicates and merge or delete these contacts
in outlook?

NO but you can always...
Sort by email> scroll> delete dupes

OR
If you have > 800 contacts like I do try this exercise.

Export Contacts to Excel ( use defaul or just pick 6 main info fields so you
can later pick the best DUPE to delete.
Open it in excel
Hide all columns that are "noise" (select col.> right mouse> hide)
Sort array by Email name (click 1 cell under email and click A>>Z icon)
Pick an empty column to filter dupes using this formula
=IF(OR(BF2=BF1,BF2=BF3),1,"") where BF2 is the emailaddress and BF1 is the
one above and BF3 the one below (It can be any column not just BF))
Then copy this formula all the way down to the end of the contact list
You will see 1 for dupes
Then enable Auto filter.. click any cell inside array and press ALT+D, F , F
sequence or select Data, Autofilter, Filter
Then select Pull down (Arrow) window for this new column and select 1
Voila !
Only your DUPES are displayed
Now MANUALLY pick and choose which ones you want to delete or edit or merge
and print this list only or use it to flip back to OUTLOOK COntacts and
MANUALLY delete your DUPES.
Painful, but effective.
You may want to merge info or manually select the DUPE to determine which is
obsolete info.
