search public folders

We have exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003 and 2007. Our public folders have
over 1000 documents, public contacts, etc/

Is there a way - builtin or 3rd party - to do a search so all materials -
documents, contacts, etc - that match will show up?

The current serach in Outlook doesnt seem to work with public folders.

thanks,

Do you mean searching across multiple public folders in one search? That's
not supported by the store provider for public folders.

To search like that Outlook must create a temporary search folder. PST files
and Exchange mailboxes support search folders, public folders do not so
Outlook can't do that kind of search. It's a matter of how the store
provider was written by the Exchange team.

thanks. It does seem as a shortsighted view in Microsoft to create Public
Folders that most corporations use to put every other document into it.

I just did a search and it seems like MS SharePoint will do what I want;
Dont even know what sharepoint is BUT just downloaded the 180 day trial and
will play with it.

Thanks,
