ser2pl.sys DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I have ser2pl.sys in connection with ATEN: UC-232A USB to Serial (RS-232)
Converter
and occasionally experience DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen of
death.

On www.aten.com I found a driver file with filetype .rar (!) for UC-232A on
Windows Vista
but no information on how I am supposed to process this filetype?

Google has many apparently relevant hits, too many for me to have digested
so far. They
have convinced me that i have a problem with ser2pl.sys, but not given me
the solution yet.

I shall be grateful for any comment that can help me further.

Hi Sven,
Try to uninstall whichever software this file belong to and run disk cleanup
and then check disk on start up.
Try the installation of that software, does it behave?.

Usually this file type exist here:
C:\Windows\System32\ser2pl.sys, right click it and see the info about the
version, the maker, the date of creation..etc.
