How can I keep my son's programs and shorcuts from showing
up in my program list and desktop. I can delete the short
cuts but in the program list, I get Deleting might effect
one or more users. I like to keep his things out of my
files.

.
Start/Control Panel/User Accounts/Change User Account

You'll find the shortcuts are located in the all users profile, highlight and
cut the shortcuts and paste them in his profile. All profiles are located in
documents and settings. The all users profile are visible to everyone, no matter
who is logged on, and there are separate profiles in your account names which
are specific to those accounts.
