I recently accidentally set something up in outlook that now puts dots in
between each of my words when they are typed and some strange symbol at the
end of each line. Can someone please tell me how to turn this "feature" off
as I have no idea what I did or how to undo it. Thanks in advance, skip

Thanks Pat, I really appreciate your kind help on this. I opened Word as
you mentioned, and noted that the button you mentioned is in the off
position. It toggled on and off with the Control-Shift * command or hitting
the symbol. After insuring that Word had the symbol off, when going back
into Outlook and starting a new message, I continue to have my new messages
type out with the symbol and dots as previously mentioned. I think I have
somehow changed settings in Outlook, but could not find the symbol you
mentioned, except on new messages, when it is grayed out and unable to be
toggled. Any further guidance would really be appreciated. Thanks again in

Ok Skip,

Please try this:
In Outlook, create a New e-mail message.
When Word appears to create the new message, be sure to click in the
message area where you normally type the message - you should now be able
to click the button.

Try this, then. In Word, click Tools>Options, and on the View tab, uncheck
any options you find in the "Formatting marks" section.
