sent messages

do you have version 2003? If you do, go to tools > options. on the
preferences tab click on E-mail Options. Is the box checked that says "Save
copies of messages in Sent Items folder?"

Did you look in your Deleted Items folder to see if they were there? What
version of Outlook? What kind of account? How big is your message store?
