Sent e-mails stuck in "Outbox"

I can click "Send/Receive" but e-mails are not moved from
Outbox to Sent Items, even though I discover they have
been sent (it can take several sends before it moves into
Outbox).

Does anyone have a solution to this?

In the past when emails are stuck in my outbox, I have
found the problem to lie in the MAPI Spooler. We would
have to kill this process and start outlook over. It is
tricky because the spooler always wants to start up when
you reopen outlook. If you kill the spooler and try again
it may work. The message just gets caught in the spooler
and just runs in a loop with no direction.

Killing the process is an ugly and not always efficient way to do it.
Place Outlook in Offline mode by File-> Work Offline and restart Outlook.
You should now be able to delete it.
