Sending messages

When I send a composed email message, it goes directly into my outbox. I
then have to actual open outlook again and wait til the message is sent. How
do I correct this? I am running Windows Vista if it matters.

Was Outlook actually running at the time that you hit Send?

If not, only a stub of Outlook gets loaded that is sufficient to
present the new-mail compose dialog. When you click Send, your new
e-mail is added to the Outbox and Outlook exits. Because Outlook isn't
running anymore, it cannot send anything.

Items that are added programmatically to the Outbox folder are not sent
unless Outlook is FULLY loaded.
