Sending Mail Fails

In outlook 2007, sending mail always results in this..
"None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported
by your server"

This happens with POP and IMAP with any correct configuration I use. I have
no problem configuring these same accounts with Outlook 2003, Outlook
Express, etc.

I assume I'm doing something silly. Please help.
 
Did you start a new profile when you moved to Outlook 2007, or is this a
profile from your older Outlook version?

I'm not sure. I suspect it's from the older version. Should I try another
profile created from scratch?
 
Yes, it would be a good idea to do so.
