Sending from Multiple Account in Outlook (avoid multiple polls to server)

I'm just starting with Outlook 2003 (from OE). What I want to do is be able
to send messages from different accounts (ie. different sender email
addresses).

The way I did this in OE was to configure multiple accounts. I'd then
instruct them to not Send/Recieve. Only the default account performed the
send/recieve

I've been trying to do the same thing on Outlook 2003, but I can't see how
to stop each account sending/recieveing. Having each account touch the same
mail server takes a long time. I only want make the email appear as though
it's coming from several different users.

Is there a better way to do this than multiple account - or what should I
do???

Thanks everyone.

I was about to ask how I could go about using different aliases so that I
could switch from Thunderbird (because I want calendaring now) and this post
helped me 100%.

I've set up multiple accounts but have only specified one of them in the
send/receive group so that now, when I type a new message, I have an
"Accounts" drop-down button allowing me to send from different accounts (but
really, only one of them is the true account).

Thanks!

Cool - thanks Diane. Very interesting to find where all the similar stuff
is hidden out Outlook when coming form OE!!!!

Cheers
