Sending E-Mail with Windows Mail

J

Jim Moseley

I've been having trouble for the last month sending e-mail with windows Mail.
I talked to my ISP several times, changed setting etc. Finally today I
talked to a CSR that looked at the server setting and he said the settings
from me were incorrect. For Windows Mail to work "Relay" has got to be "ON"
or "Active" Maybe thi will halp someone.

Please copy and paste the complete error message to your reply.

Who is your ISP, what is the part after the @ in your email address?

That doesn't make sense. There is no "relay" setting in Windows Mail.

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the

the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

You have entered an incorrect email address, (e-mail address removed)
apparently does not exist, check for the correct spelling of the address.

I notice that the address that you hoped to get a reply to, contains an
underscore (_), the one that you are sending to contains a period (.)

You ask here and then read the answer here, for the benefit of others.

I also get a rejection for (e-mail address removed), so that email address
is not correct. Are you able to send to other recipients?
