When I send a Calander appointment from Outlook 2003 to a co worker with
Outlook 2000 it just comes as an email with the VCal data but cannot be
entered into their calander.

Can anyone help?

Try sending it as an iCal.

yep... there is a hotfix that apparently was not installed on the 2000
system. It also works if you don't include a reminder on the request.
