Send workbook as attachment

When I try to send an entire spreadsheet as an attachment, an internet
connection wizard pops up. The problem is that my outlook is connected to an
Exchange Server. Why does this happen? I want to be able to simply click
file--sent to--mail recipient (as attachment). As of now I need to save the
spreadsheet to the drive, then open a new email in outlook and attach the
file that way. Please help.
