"Send to Desktop" not working properly

I found my "send to" folder empty, I think after using some junk cleaner app.
No problem I thought, just drop in shortcuts of the items I want sent to in
there, so I made a shortcut of the desktop folder and put in there. Problem
is, anything I send to it is not made into a shortcut, but the whole file or
folder is sent to the desktop. Any way to fix this?

Copy the file "Desktop (create shortcut)" from the Default user folder"

C:\Users\default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

Place a copy in your user profile SendTo folder (shell:sendto)

Thanks, but it was missing from there
(C:\Users\default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo), but managed to
fix it anyhow by going to a Ghost backup and extracting it from there.

Thanks for the update! Note that you'll find the "desktop" shortcut in the SendTo folder of each user account.
