Send Recieve on Outlook

I am having trouble with send/recieve on outlook. It is
like i have an email stuck that wont ever send. When i
hit send it gives me a message "preparing to send" and
then never actually does. I can cancel S/R and then hit
S/R again and it will send a new message but there is
still the one that is stuck. Help
