Send/Receive dialog won't stay gone

Well, after downloading updates to Office 2007 programs recently, the
stupid Outlook 2007 Send/Receive dialog box has reappeared while I'm
sending and receiving. I don't like this box, and it's supposedly one you
can suppress -- I used to have it suppressed.

I only see the outline of the dialog, though; it doesn't have any content.
Therefore, I can't uncheck the tick mark inside the box that says "show
this dialog" or whatever it says. It looks pretty amateurish to have this
show up.

Is there a registry setting I can use to turn off this stupid dialog box?

Usually, when it comes back, I can un-check the box in the dialog that says
"show this dialog" if I am fast enough. It's weird that I have to check a
tick mark (or uncheck it, whichever it is) quickly, inside the dilaog box,
before the box goes away. Sometimes there's not that much e-mail to send
or receive, but the box takes away focus and it's just plain annoying.

This is Outlook 2007 in Exchange mode (plus an internet service provider e-
mail gets checked too) on Windows XP Pro.

tools, send /receive, send/receive settings, show progress - uncheck the
tick and unpin it in the lower right corner.

That doesn't quite work.

When I click Tools, Send/Receive, Send/Receive Settings in Outlook 2007
"Show Progress...", what I get is a blank dialog box labeled "Outlook
Send/Receive Progress". The box is blank except it has a title bar. I'll
attach a screenshot. This dialog box stays present until I dismiss it.

Is this completely broken?

The screenshot looks fine to me. Sorry you can't read it. Next time I'll
do what you said. I described the problem anyway, so the screenshot is not
crucial.

Have you used Office Diagnostics?
