I recently installed vista ultimate, I had previously had the RC1 vista on my
machine. I did windows easy data transfer. My email is all set up, and when
I open the mail, it will send and recieve fine. But if I click the
send/recieve button at the top, it just comes up with an error has occured,
but there are no details about the error. If I click the down arrow on that
button I can manually send and recieve on each account and it works, just the
main button does not work. Any ideas

Clicking on individual accounts only does a receive, no send.
What happens when you click on Send All?
Have you looked in your Outbox for a fragment of a stuck (undeletable)
message? If the error doesn't prevent you from sending, I'd ignore it
for now. Eventually MS will release a fix.

I've got the exact same problem. Send and Receive individually work fine,
but clicking "Send/Receive all" gives an error with no information.
Let me know if you figure anything out!

Yes I have the exactly the same error. I suppose that I will need to just by
another email program?

Under no circumstances by a new email program.
If you must change get http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas
or http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/thunderbird/
They are free.

Either way, ensure you are not running Norton or McAcfee AV software,
uninstall it entirely, and use a compatible tool instead like Avast...

That's free too.

Note that, more free stuff, email scanning is superfluous.

Yes. That problem is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
