Send/Receive at program startup

Uncheck the automatic polling option under Tools->Options->Mail Setup.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Steve Prescott asked:

Try this: Tools | Options -> Mail Setup tab, UNCHECK Send immediately when
connected.
