send link to network file

Is there shortcut to sending a link to a file on a network drive? We are
trying to cut back on sending files through e-mail, rather sending a
hyperlink to the mail recipient such as f:\myFolder\myFile.doc

I know I can copy the folder path in the top of Windows Explorer, then type
the filename, but it seems there could be an easier and faster way.

Anyone?
