Send file as attachment from Word doesn't have signature?

My outlook XP client has a signature, however, if I use the "send file as
attachment" menu option in Word, the signature doesn't appear in the message?
Why is this? Do I need to add the signature to a template file to have this
work?

It happens because that technique for sending a file bypasses Outlook's
message creation mechanism and, therefore, doesn't invoke the signature. The
solution is to create the message, then attach the saved file.
