Can I stop the window offering to send an error message to Microsoft
every time a program crashes?

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Click Error reporting button
Uncheck "Programs" and click OK twice

Good Luck, Ayush.

Thanks, Ayush. They sure make that one hard to find, don't they? :)

I was rather curious as to whether Microsoft actually act on the millions of
these messages that they must receive every day. What I didn't know is that
as part of the process, the utility scans a database to see if you problem
has a known cause. It then will redirect you to a more infomative entry in
tht database.

Imagine my surprise when I had a windows error message come up when I
inserted a CD which invited me to send an error report. So I sent the error
log, and up pops a window telling me that my problem is caused by a piece of
software called TIcalc (or something similar). The only problem (as I'm
sure you've already guessed) is that I don't have any such software
installed or have ever had it installed.
