Send Back...

I have a tab control on a form in which I have place a subform and now a
textbox & label. I can't seem to get the textbox to appear in front of the
subform???? I have sent the subform to the back and the textbox to the
front, but it doesn't appear to do anything. I am using access 2003. Is
there a way to make it appear in front?

Thank you,

Hi QB,
no, this is the standard behavior for a subform and I think also for a
listbox.
You can hide the subform to see the textbox, but you can't make the textbox
show in front of the subform.
If you let us know what you are trying to achieve, we may be able to suggest
something else.

That really sucks! What is the point of having a command which control the
order of control if it only applies to some and not other....?! Anyways.

What am I trying to do? Good question. As I mentioned, I have a tab
control on which a subform was added. Now I have been asked to squish in 2
new controls in a vacant area of the subform (only spot left on the form).
The field/controls are actually part of the record source for the main form
and as such are textbox and labels and thus the issue.

Unless you tell me otherwise, the only solution I see is to create a subform
to house these 2 elements and then place the new subform in front of the
other one. That said, I was trying to avoid more subforms....for performance
reasons.

I am still baffled by the fact I can't simply bring them to the front. Oh
well, I'll get over it.

Thank you for the definitive answer, I'll stop fighting with it now!

If the data is part of the main form's recordsource, you must put it on the
main form. Probably the best solution due to your lack of form real estate
is to add another tab and move related controls from the main form to it.

Not sure why that is, but that's the way it is.
It is possible to put a textbox and label on a tab control and make them
visible on all pages of the tab control. Don't know if this helps or not.
