Hi,

I do IT work for a company and have set up outlook many times. I have a new
sony vaio laptop and loaded a copy of Office 2003 on it. I uninstalled a
trial version of Office first that was on there when I got the laptop. I
cannot seem to get outlook to work send and receive or compete a test
accounts settings. I know that all of my settings and passwords are correct.
I can go to web2mail using internet explorer on this machine and can get the
e-mails but it will not work in outlook. When I do a test account settings
it says it cannot find the incoming mail server (pop.business.earthlink.net)
and then says to check my SSL or port settings in advanced setup. These are
the usual defaults of incoming 110 and outgoing 25. I am using my company's
LAN to connect and have turned off my firewall since we have a corporate one.
I also tried adding addtional accounts such as my own into the outlook and
plugged in the appropriate passwords and mail servers but keep getting the
same message. I uninstalled and reinstalled office as well but no luck.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

The only experience I have seen with this is usually related to server
authentication. Maybe checking (or unchecking) the boxes in your setup will
help.

Our mail server host changed this once without telling us and suddenly
everyone using Outlook as their mail client had problems, even though webmail
worked fine.

Just a thought, you probably already checked it.
