Semi OT: Viewsonic Monitor drivers

I've been trying to get Vista 32 drivers for my P225fb 22" CRT for a
while now. The drivers on Viewsonics site are porked. The "Signed"
driver set, which are for ALL Viewsonic CRT's and LCD's, have only
their latest equipment listed ("V" series). The UN-Signed drivers
have more but give me an error when I try to install the P225fb-4
set. Both must be done manually, which is dumb in and by itself. I
have disabled the Signed Driver check at boot and the Windows error is
that there is a file problem. Looking in C:\Viewsonic I see no
P225fb-4.inf file, just and ICM file. This REALLY shouldn't be so
friggin difficult!

Anyone know a workaround?

Thanks.

What do you want it to do that it won't do without the so-called
"driver"?

Hey, you want a work around then it helps to know what you're working
toward.

I want to install the Viewsonic P225fb drivers for Vista, that's
really all you need to know. Now how can you help me achieve this
goal? If WHY is your response, it's simple. Go back to sentence #1.

Well, you can't because there are no such "drivers". So either live
with it or tell us what problem you think that they'll fix.

The monitor driver.. like the videocard driver, sound card driver, NIC
driver, etc. etc.

There is no such thing as a "monitor driver" (disclaimer: there may be
very rare instances where there is actually a driver needed for a
monitor, but I've never seen it).

There are only two things that you really get with a "monitor driver":
an .INF file that defines the resolutions and refresh rates the monitor
supports, and an .ICM file with the color profile.

The .INF you can work around by telling Windoze to use a "standard
monitor" type and just select the resolution and refresh you want, or by
using the nearest "similar" monitor that supports the same minimum
settings, or by telling it you have a "Plug'n'play" monitor.

An .ICM file you can generate yourself using something like Adobe Gamma
or the Microsoft Color Settings PowerToy, or any of a number of other
utilities.

There is no actual "driver" required.
