Tim Haughton

What is the preferred method of implementing a self updating WPF app? Is it
still the UAB?

Cheers,

Tim

Tim,

There is also ClickOnce, which was introduced in .NET 2.0.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for posting here!

I notice that you have posted the same question in our
microsoft.public.dotnet.general newsgroup, which I have already responded.
So please check my answer there and if you need any further assistance on
this particular issue, please reply to me in that thread so I can follow up
with you in time.

For your convenience, I include my reply as follows:
-----------------------------------------------------
The preferred method of implemeting a self updating WPF application is
ClickOnce. ClickOnce was introduced in .NET 2.0 and is enhanced in .NET 3.0
and .NET 3.5.

In fact, there're three types for WPF applications, i.e. standalone
applications, XAML browser application(XBAPs) and Browser-Hosted Extensible
Application Markup Language(XAML) pages. The deployment technology that is
used to deploy a WPF application depends on the application type.

For detailed information on WPF application deployment, please refer to the
following MSDN document:

'Deploying a WPF Application (WPF)'

-------------------------------------------------------

Thank you and have a nice day!

Sincerely,
Linda Liu

where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support

up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
