Selects 4 Cells with 1 Click?! Help!!

Dave B

Hi,

For some reason, the worksheet I'm working on is now selecting four cells
(in a straight column) every time I try to click one. Which therefore
prevents me from doing the things i need to do (such as edit one cell or
merge cells, etc).

This is amazingly frustrating and I really need to get this sheet finished.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, please let me know!!

Thanks!

Maybe you're extending the current range.

Look at the statusbar (at the bottom). Do you see EXT in one of those embossed
boxes at the right side? If yes, hit the F8 key to toggle this mode off.

Or maybe you have merged cells so that all 4 of those cells is merged to act
like one??
Format|cells|alignment tab|uncheck merge cells
(xl2003 menus)

Or maybe your mouse buttons are stuck. Gently bang on the mouse buttons
(including the wheel mouse) to see if that helps--or try a different mouse????

Try setting the Zoom level a little lower.

The multiple cell selection is a bug in Excel 2007.

The zoom-changing appears to fix it.

I don't have 2007 but a few postings have made the suggestion and it seems
to work.

Here is one such posting.
