Selective animation

I'm going nuts trying to fix a problem caused by a computer crash. After
rebuilding with a newer version (2003), I can no longer custom animate
highlighted individual letters or words out of a text box. When I do, entire
text box animates. Can't seem to find any help on this.

It's never been possible to animate parts of a textbox (i.e., individual
letters or words).

Or did you truly mean for this to be a suggestion for future versions?

You can apply an animation to all the letters or words one at a time within
a textbox, but never just a part of the text within any shape.

Click on the textbox and right click, select Custom Animation. The CA task
pane will become visible. Now on the list of animations(if one is already
applied) there will be a down-arrow pull-down list. From this list select
Effects Options and change the Animate text to By Letter, By Word or All at
once.

Is this what you meant?
