Selecting Text

I am new to Word 2007 and only have one complaint... when you select text, it
doesn't really highlight what you have selected. Is it possible to change the
settings for selected text so that it actually highlights the text?
 
Unless you mean the effect of Word Options > Advanced > Editing Options >
When selecting, automatically select entire word - Selecting text works in
exactly the same way as it did in earlier versions.
