Selecting certain data points on a scatter chart

i need to know how to select certain data points on a scatter graph, s
i can create a linear trend line just for those points
 
Add those points as a new series. Then, create a trendline for this
new series.

If these points have some pattern to them, the ideas behind the
Excel/Tutorials/Select Markers page of my web site might help.
