An article previously published und Q226476 explains how to change the
default where the drive opens and it applies to Windows 98 SE.

It says to click START and then FOLDER OPTIONS, then on the FILE TYPES tab,
click DRIVE and click EDIT.

You can do everything except the last click. There is no EDIT.

I would like to have the drive open to explorer rather than open the FIND
window. Anybody have a way to fix this problem in XP Pro?

Don't know about Win98, but here's how to do it in XP - open the shortcut
and in the target field put in:
%systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

In the Start in field put: %HOMEDRIVE%

Click <OK>.

The shortcut should now open with My Computer highlighted with all drives
listed in expanded mode.

You're welcome Frank.

More Information, and a quick fix from David Candy.

This problem occurs when you alter the "Drive" / "File Folders" entries via
File Types dialog, to add a "Command Prompt here" or "Print Directory"
feature for folders. (example)

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321186

Resolution:

Click Start/Run and type this command to fix this problem:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

-or-

To fix this manually via registry:

If this problem is seen for Drives:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Set (default) to "none" (without ")

If this problem is seen for folders:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell]
Set (default) to "none" (without ")
