When initially loading WinXP home the system booted directly to the desktop
with no intervention. Ever since loading my HP printer programs I now must
select a user account at startup.

Since there is only one person using this PC, is there any way to bypass
this and boot without having to manually select an account?

Hi,

Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and
click ok. Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok
and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

Do the reverse of the info in the posting (logging on with user name instead
of administrator - TROUBLE)
