Select text scrolling problem

Hi all,

I've got a question about selecting text with a mouse.

When I try to do this on my laptop, and the selection goes beyond th
bottom of the screen, the remaining pages of the document scroll at
terrific speed, and often I end up with way too much text selected.

However, if I use my work PC, the pages scroll at a leisurely rate, an
I can highlight as much or as little text, and can stop at exactly th
right place.

Does anyone know of a way of controlling the speed of the scrolling a
I move the mouse towards the bottom of the screen? What are the likel
reasons for the differences? We both use Office 2000, but my laptop i
P3 1GHz WinMe, while my work PC is P4 1.8GHz Win2000.

Thanks for any help.

What you need to do is use your keyboard to select text. Try these:

Hold the Shift key, then use your right/left or up/down arrow keys t
select 1 letter or 1 line at a time.

Add the Ctrl key (Ctrl + Shift) and use your arrow keys to select
word or 1 paragraph at a time (depending on if you're moving sideway
or up/down).

Double-click on a word to select 1 word, then you can expand th
selection using the above technique if you want.

Triple clicking will select an entire paragraph.

Ctrl +click selects 1 _sentence_.

If you practice these techniques you will be able to quickly select (o
de-select by going "backward") any amount of text quickly and easily.

Good luck
