"Select recipients" out of alphabetical order

My contacts are in alphabetical order and for a few months when I clicked the
box beside "TO" in a new email to open "Select recipients" my contacts were
also in alphabetical order.
Suddenly in "Select Recipients" the alphabetical order has scrambled but
when I go back and select "Contacts" the list is in order.
Can anyone please tell me how to get my list of Contacts in "Select
Recipients" to return to alphabetical order as it is in "Contacts."

Create a new mail>To and then click on the column header that you wish to
sort by?

I always sort by Home phone, I put fictitious numbers in the contact so that
people that I mail regularly appear in the top ten spots. 1, 12, 13, etc
Also if you select any contact and then hit Ctrl key and The + on the
numeric keypad it will show the full details, (this trick works in most
truncated list names in most applications).
