Select problem

I have a spreadsheet when I put my cursor on a cell, instead of selecting
the cell it selects an area of my cells and it moves them instead of
selecting a specific cell.

How can I stop this so that I can select individual or group of cells
without moving the entire area of my information?

Thank you in advance

F8 is and has been off. That is not the issue. The issue is that when I
put my cursor on a cell, instead of selecting that cell, it selects 5 or 6
colums of cells and puts a line box around this group with handles on it so
you can move the entire group. That is not what I am trying to accomplish.
I only one to select one cell at a time to edit it.

Thank you

Does this happen in a new empty workbook?

On the particular worksheet where this is occurring, it is happening in
columns A-I and rows 1-26 Anything around that selection is working OK.

It seems as if those columns and rows are locked into SELECT mode rather
than allowing me to individually select a cell or row or column. As I said
before, it has lines with handles around those columns and rows and only
allows me to click and move all of those rows and columns.

I hope this is more understandable.

Thank you Bob

Sounds like a picture was created using Camera Tool or SHIFT + Edit>Copy as
Picture.

If you move it is there anything behind it?

F5>Special>Objects.

Does the area get selected as an object?

Thanks for your response.
To the best of my knowledge, I never did SHIFT + Edit>Copy as> Picture.

I probably did a Control C.
I did move the group of columns and cells and there is nothing behind it.

If I put my cursor on any cell in the group of columns and rows causing me
the problem, it immediately changes to a selected area with a line around
with handles. If I grab one of the handles, it expands the size of the
selected area. Therefore it does not allow me to use F5>Special>Objects.>
If I attempt to use this in any other area on the worksheet it works just
fine.

Is there anyway I can get this area back to a normal way of using these
cells and columns?

Again, thank you very much for your anticipated support.

Interesting, what Options are you offered in the Context menu (R-click a
cell) I wonder if you have locked cells or a macro running.

It appears to me that it is acting as if that range of cells is a picture.
I have no idea how this could have happened.
I only did a Control C and went to a new worksheet and did a Control V. In
some parts when I R click, it gives me the options of Copy Move or Cancel.
Other parts of it when I R click I can select the Picture Toolbar or format
Picture, assign Macro, Hyperlink, Grouping Move, Copy.

Is there anyway I could copy this and insert it into a new worksheet to be
treated as a normal worksheet.
