"Select Names" box to select email recipients

Guest

I have Outlook 2000. When I want to send a new mail message and click on the "To:" button in the Select Names pop-up box, my Contacts are listed in order by First Name, Last Name. I want the names to fall in alpha order by last name in the Select Names pop-up box; I can't figure out how to do this. This is really cumbersome to sort through the first names, please help

(When I created all of them I indicated the Default "Full Name" Order under Contact Options should be First (Middle) Last, and that the Default "File As" Order should be Last Name, First Name.)

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide

Here are the steps to sort the Outlook Address Book by the File As field in
the Contacts folder.
To Sort Based on the File As Field
----------------------------------
To configure the Outlook Address Book to sort based on the Contacts File As
field, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Services.
2. Click "Outlook Address Book", then click Properties.
3. Click "File As (Smith, John)." Click Close, and then click OK to close
the Services.
4. On the File menu, click "Exit and Log Off".
5. Restart Outlook.
6. On the Tools menu, click Address Book; then click to select Contacts in
the Show Names list.
The Contacts in the Outlook Address Book are sorted and displayed based on
each contact's File As field.

I hope this information is helpful.
