Select file types to publish

Allow the user to select files types to all. For example
[] Publish all
[]htm/html
[]images (gif, jpg, jpeg, png, etc.)
[]documents (doc, pdf, xls, etc.)
[]components (
[]other (user defined)

This will allow users to publish an updated page without publishing photos
again, allowing faster updates and testing of portions of pages for quick
testing.

When you use selective publish and select a file or a group of files, the only items that are
publish are the actual file that you have selected, anything that is linked or associated with the
file is NOT published.

I'm using FP2003 and there is no "Selective publishing". Are you speaking of
just selecting a folder and right clicking and "publish selected files"?
Yes you can do that, but it is simpler to select just html and simply hit
the publish button regularly.

When you use selective publish and select a file or a group of files, the only items that are
publish are the actual file that you have selected, anything that is linked or associated with the
file is NOT published.

You can easily switch to folder View and sort by file type, then select and publish the selected

That would be inherintly wrong. You know if you publish only the html files
selectivly some of the components don't publish, menus, links etc. It only
publishes the files leaving components incomplete.
This is one of the most common issues posted, when people simply publish the
updated page, but not the structure and components.
This allows you to simply push the publish button every time, and all
aspects are published except those items you don't require.

This is also needed when you have extension problems on your site and you
can publish everything (except pictures and pdfs etc)
If you publish just the selected files it doesn't work. That is a fact.

Correct and that is why I recommend that users never use the Publish Selective file function.

That would be inherintly wrong. You know if you publish only the html files
selectivly some of the components don't publish, menus, links etc. It only
publishes the files leaving components incomplete.

updated page, but not the structure and components.
This allows you to simply push the publish button every time, and all
aspects are published except those items you don't require.
