select automatically "clear type"

How can I select automatically "clear type" for "use the following method to
smooth edges of screen fonts" in effects window (Control
Panel>>Display>>Appearance>>Effects) without restart or log off?

I found following registry keys;

HKEY_Current_User\Control Panel\Desktop

Data Type: String Value
Value Name: FontSmoothing
Value Data: [Set Value to 2]

Data Type: Dword
Value Name: FontSmoothingType
Value Data: [Set Value to 2]

But I have to log off and log on to effect settings. But I cannot.

Also I found "ClearType Tuning Wizard". Can I run the wizard silently,
without user interaction?

Thanks for your replies.

Note: Internet Options, Security, Customize: Allow ActiveX (Prompt)

Microsoft states, "With Windows XP, ClearType delivers improved font display resolution over
traditional anti-aliasing. It improves readability on color LCD monitors with a digital
interface, such as those in laptops and high-quality flat desktop displays. Readability on CRT
screens can also be somewhat improved." http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=2616476

To enable Clear Type:
Right click on a blank area of the Desktop and choose [Properties]
Click on the Appearance Tab; Click Effects
Check the box: Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts
In the drop down box select: Clear Type

Microsoft offers a site to enable Clear Type and then fine tunes the settings via a graphical
interface that allows selection of a visual effect best suited to your individual system.

Enable Clear type on Welcome Login Screen:

Microsoft clear type technology greatly increases clarity of text on laptop LCD screens. By
default this feature does not start until after you log on. But with the tweak below you will
be able to make it start as windows loads so it will be enabled on the welcome login screen.

1. Start regedit, if you are unfamiliar with regedit please see our FAQ.
2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop.
3. Locate the key FontSmoothingType.
4. Change the value to 2. (Original value was 1)
5. Restart.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.
But they are not suitable for me.

Do you know, I can enable cleartype using policy? If I do with policy, it is
enough for me.

Thanks.
