When opening my section of WindowsXP, it lists 3 programs
as already loaded. One is for Kodak Software Updates, and
lists the file as BackWeb-7288971.exe. How can I undo
that automatic loading, and call for Kodak's updating only
when I want to? The same problem exists for another
program. THANKS - JoeScottNY

They may be items in your Start \ All Programs \ Startup folder. More
likely you will find them listed under the Startup Tab by going to Start \
Run and entering (without the quotes) "msconfig". Find your items there, if
they are, and uncheck them.

To remove them from that list entirely requires a registry change which can
be accomplished using regedit or their are a few utilities that can do it
for you.

Autorun.exe is similar to msconfig.exe but more
functional as far as startup.

You can download autoruns from :

http://doc.sch130.nsc.ru/www.sysinternals.com/files/autoru
ns.zip

You'll have copy shortcut of autorun.exe and drag that to
your start menu / all programs

Just uncheck the box and it won't load up( You can re-
check the box to re-enable it)

Note: some startup registry items don't unload properly
during reboot so they are not deleted from startup. To
insure the change takes effect, in task manager end
process before rebooting.
