Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB824141)
Security Update for Microsoft Windows XP (KB828035)

These updates fail to install with Auto update or by
visiting update website. Any ideas?

Try downloading them directly from the windows update catalog and see if
they will install then.
Go to windows update. On the left of the window under the heading 'other
options' click 'personalize windows update' In the next window. In the next
window place a check mark next to the option 'display the link to the
windows update catalog.' If you now look at the left of the screen again you
should see a link marked 'windows update catalog' under the section marked
'see also'. Click on this link. When the update catalog window opens you
will need to select your operating system from the list. If you have SP1
installed (service pack 1) choose Windows XP SP1. If you don't then choose
Windows XP RTM. You should now be able to search the update site for all
available updates. Locate the ones you are looking for and download them to
your desktop. They should be self extracting files so all you need do is
click on them and they should install. Remember to click the KB824141 one
first as this is the earlier update. Clicking on the later one first may
cause an error if it relies on KB824141 being installed first.
