Security update without SP4?

At my company we run Win2k with only SP3, since SP4 reacts badly with some important programs. Does anyone know if I can install that recent critical security update anyway? The update's specs tell me that SP4 will be affected, but not whether it's required.

All patches are tested for SPn-1 meaning the current SP minus 1. So you're
safe.
