The new update re-introduces the usual Adobe annoyances to MSCONFIG
(user choice) - I opt it out.

You might also want to disable automatic updating to that you chose what Adobe
delivers to your PC under Edit > Preferences in Adobe Reader.

For that matter, you may want to disable the bloatware Adobe reader
altogether ....
and install a far better reader:
PDF X-Change viewer available here:
http://pdf-xchange-viewer.en.softonic.com/
(freeware and portable version available also.)

Windows Secrets newsletter recently recommended Nitro because of its
features and flexibility. So far so good for me.

Thanks, occam - I am aware of the app via a security vendor I support.

I'll take my chances with Adobe for now as I think I have enough information
that allows me to run Adobe apps with some impunity.

I've tried it. Nitro PDF Reader has good features, but still in Beta. It
also has an agressive policy of setting itself as default PDF handler,
without asking your (or my) permission.
