Security Update KB908531

How can I uninstall security update KB908531 on a machine that is on WINXP
SP2? The security update does not show in the Add Remove Program list. I
know it was installed because I can see it in the Microsoft update history.

You don't need to uninstall the update. Just modify the Windows
registry as described at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165
"Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you
install security update MS06-015".

If that doesn't work, however (it didn't for me), you'll still need to
uninstall. You have to check the box for "Show updates" in Add and Remove
Programs in order to see it listed.

sorry for following you all over the place but...

How does one "set the data value to 1"? I've tried right double clicking it,
then right clicking it. That does bring up another dialog box but I don't
know which selection to make.

Right-click the entry in the Name column and select Modify. In the
little dialog, it doesn't matter which option button is selected
(Hexadecimal or Decimal). There should be a 0 (zero) in the box --
change it to 1 (one) and click OK. The Value column of the entry
should now look like this:

0x00000001 (1)
